He said that they were on their way, but given the amount of blood that seeped from the wound in his side, John had doubts that they would make it in time. He walked a few more unsteady paces down the eerie corridor before his legs gave out and he collapsed in a narrow doorway, his strength all but gone.
The last place he wanted to die was in a damned Wraith Hive ship, but the coldness that was quickly spreading through his body told him how likely it was that he would. There was little warmth in the light panel that he was slumped beside, but the light itself gave him some small comfort; at least he would not die in darkness.
He listened as Rodney’s worried voice continued to sound through his earpiece, but felt too weak to even reply. He took some comfort from the words of reassurance his friend spoke, even though he knew that his time was quickly running out.
Just as he thought he was about to die alone, hurried footsteps sounded further along the corridor. He didn’t even have the strength left to panic as the sound came nearer, so he stared through the doorway to see if it was his salvation or doom that approached.
He had never been so glad to see Rodney McKay and Ronon Dex in his life.
One of the few re-uploads that I have the original story to go with it. I used to have a little tale for all of my pics, but almost all of them are gone so I was surprised to find this one!
